Born in 1961 in Sečovce, Stanislav Bubán is one of the leading representatives of the Slovak postmodern generation. In his work, he develops a dialogue between the classical painting tradition and contemporary expressive gestures. His works are characterized by dynamic work with figures, light, and space, often drawing on mythology, history, or a deep experience of the landscape.

He works as an associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. He has presented his work in dozens of solo and group exhibitions around the world, from Bratislava and Prague to Paris, Berlin, London, Washington, and Beijing.
